Hi my beauty tribe! If you follow me on Instagram then you know I recently bought the W3ll People Expressionist Mascara. I wanted to compare the Lily Lolo Mascara and the W3ll Expressionist Mascara, because they are comparable. Recently I reviewed the Lily Lolo mascara, since I bought it several weeks ago. I think there is definitely more room for the green beauty world to create a better mascara, but I do have a favorite for now. Please keep reading if you want to learn which green beauty mascara is best for you.
W3ll People Expressionist Mascara- $21.99
This mascara does not clump.
It states that it “coats even the shortest of lashes, delivering a flawless and even finish.” This mascara hands down, gets the job done by defining every eyelash.
It has natural jojoba oil which nourishes lashes.
It’s suitable for sensitive eyes.
I had a little bit of fall out under my eyes.
Lily Lolo Mascara- $20
It definitely provides length and volume. At first I really liked this mascara, because of how much volume it gave my lashes.
When I first used the product, my lashes didn’t clump.
It lasts all day, and stays put.
It irritated my eyes throughout the day, but mostly towards the end.
My lashes started to clump after about a month of using this mascara. In this photo, I just pulled out the brush from the tube and you can see how clumpy the brush is.
At first I really liked the Lily Lolo mascara, mostly because it was the first green beauty mascara that gave my lashes length and volume. I didn’t like that it irritated my eyes. Overall I think I have a love/hate relationship with the Lily Lolo mascara. It’s like when you eat cake, and you tell yourself you are only going to take one bite. Then of course you take two more bites, and then before you know it you finished the cake.
The W3ll People Expressionist Mascara is good for right now. I really like that it doesn’t clump, and it grabs all of my lashes. It doesn’t irritate my eyes which is a plus.
I purchased my RMS Un Cover-Up Foundation/Concealer in #11 from Sephora, and it was $36. I used a gift card that I received for my birthday last month. After researching organic and cruelty free foundation, I knew I wanted to purchase this product. It came in a small jar. The jar is great for traveling, because it is small and compact. I love that this doesn’t take up a lot of space in my makeup drawer. Overall, I think it will last a long time, because I find I don’t have to use a tone of product. I have been using this product with a blending sponge for about three weeks now, please read the rest of the blog to know what I love about it and dislike.
– It feels light on my skin. In fact it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing anything.
-When I wear this foundation/concealer it feels like my real skin.
-It blends easily, and it isn’t messy when I uncap the jar.
-The color matches my skin perfectly.
-It fades throughout the day. To prevent it from fading, I would use a powder if I wanted more coverage.
-I feel like I have to dab it all over my face, and then put concealer on the red spots on my face. It can be time consuming if I’m already late to work.
Overall I love it. What do you all think? What new foundation are you trying in 2017?
Hey everyone! Happy New Year! I’ve made a list of goals just like everyone else in this world, and I’ve been purchasing more and more things lately related to that goal.
The goal is to switch over to green beauty products in 2017.
The #1 reason I want to switch to green beauty products is because when I switched to cruelty free makeup I was introduced to green beauty products. I never knew that those products existed without chemicals, and at first I wasn’t interested at all. But then around September 2016 I then realized that my skin didn’t feel the same, and my skin felt itchy and irritated by the products I was putting on it. That’s when I was introduced to Laura’s Natural Life on YouTube, and The Organic Bunny blog. I am really interested in making my skin feel good again, and that’s why I want to switch some of my products to green beauty.
The 2nd thing that I want to bring up is that while I will be switching a lot of my products to green beauty, it won’t all be at once. I want to continue using the eyeshadows that I have, because honestly I only wear them for certain occasions and I don’t want to throw them out just yet. But from now on, if I do need to buy certain makeup products because I’m out of it then I will buy green beauty products.
At this time last year I was researching makeup brands, and finding out which were cruelty free. Here are five things that I learned about going cruelty free.
The first thing I learned was that it was difficult to find my holy grail cruelty free products. Mascara was one of the most difficult things to find, since I was obsessed with Covergirl’s orange lash blast mascara. I eventually found my holy grail which is Pacifica’s Dream Big mascara. I guess what I want to say is that it is a lot of trial error in switching to cruelty free makeup products.
Shop at TJMaxx for cruelty free brands. I bought Crystal deodorant, and Jason shampoo for a reasonable price at TJMaxx. I also found this gem (pictured) at TJMaxx, I only wish it was a larger container, since it made me feel like I traveled to Hawaii.
The brand E.L.F became my best friend. I really liked the eyeliner, and HD translucent powder (pictured). I also love E.L.F brushes. They are soft and affordable, I think the most expensive one is $3. Like are you kidding!
Buy samples or travel size makeup products. I bought the Vapour sample kit which was about $17 with shipping, but I got a $10 promo code, and I figured out which product I wanted to buy full size. You should definitely switch to cruelty free products slowly, and I think buying samples or travel size makes it easy because you can decide which product you like the most.
I became more aware of the ingredients in the products. I started watching Laura’s Natural Life on YouTube, and she made me aware of more green products that I should be using. Towards the end of the year I found out about The Organic Bunny, and I absolutely love her blog. For the new year I will be switching to more green makeup products. I will upload a blog post about why I am switching to green products later.
Please tell me what you think, and let me know what your experience has been since switching to cruelty free makeup products.
As part of the Christmas Challenge I wanted to show you a gift guide. I always give my friends and family members these type of gifts. Personally I love giving gifts that others will use in their life, rather than material items. Please keep reading if you want to learn what items make the best gifts.
Today we can easily send a picture or post it on Instagram, but personally I love printing out my favorite picture of the person that I want to give a gift to.
This idea is super thoughtful. In fact, one year my friend gifted me this picture frame, and I gave her the exact same thing. Aw! 🙂 True friendship!
It’s super easy. Go to CVS photography or WalMart and you can print and edit a picture of your friend or family member. You can also create a collage on the kiosks, which is what I did.
Then, buy a picture frame at The Dollar Store, GoodWill, or Target/Walmart.
Next, wrap it up and give it to your loved one.
I think this is a great idea, because a picture frame is a great decoration item for the home.
I am a huge book warm. I think you should gift your loved one either your favorite book, or a book that you think would make a difference in their life.
Books are a great idea, because well knowledge is power right!
I think a book is a personal, because then they can share what they thought of the book. I think books can also be life changing, because they have the power to make us think about things in a new way
Currently I’m reading You are a Badass How to stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. It is a self help book, and I would recommend it for the person in your life who you know is great, but they might need a little push.
Of course I was going to suggest a makeup product, I mean this is a makeup blog!
If you know your loved one is dying to get a new lipstick or eyeshadow palette, then this is the perfect time to gift it for them. Personally I love makeup, and while fuzzy socks are great too, makeup gifts are a sweet spot for me.
If you don’t know what makeup product they want, then buy them a Visa Prepaid card that way they can buy whatever makeup product they like.
I hope this gift guide helps you out. If you are reading this thank you for taking the time out of your day to read it, and I truly hope it inspires you to give thoughtful gifts. I hope you have a great Christmas, and please cherish the moments with your loved ones.
Okay when you first opened this post you probably had a dirty thought, but I’m really talking about lipsticks, I just thought I should clear the air. Anyway these are some of the pinky nude lipsticks I always reach for. I am absolutely am obsessed with them, and I thought I would post them because I always get compliments and questions on what lipstick I’m wearing. The problem is that I reach for so many pinky nudes, and I’m really looking forward to expand my lipstick collection. I am in the market for reds, and dark lippies for fall. Any suggestions?
One of the topics I want to talk about on this blog, that is important to me is love. The blog is called Roses and Amor, because it is a play on my name. Also amor translates to love from Spanish (FYI). The main purpose of this blog is to share with you my cruelty free makeup products, but on a more real depth, I think it is important to share and talk about love. For me I love food, and I love to read, and write. I want to spread the love, because I think it is truly important, especially in this world right now.
The first thing that is important is to determine what love is. To me it’s that gushy feeling I feel when I see pizza or my boyfriend (insert smiley emoji with two heart eyes). According to google the definition of love is (noun): an intense feeling of deep affection. I think this is kind of coincidental because when I say that I love a product, for instance the Colourpop highlighter in Wisp, it’s because I have a intense feeling about it, and I keep reaching and using it. One of the reasons I think I love wearing makeup, is because I feel more special and kind of impressed with myself. Like not only did I get up today, and do my makeup, but I know that I love myself, and I want to inspire others to love who they are too. So in terms of loving yourself, I want to say to my readers that you should write down everything that you love. It could be pizza or your pet, but it’s important to share what you love and think about it. I mean we all think about our bills that we have to pay, and the workload we have, but sometimes we need to think and share love.
