Best Cruelty Free Dandruff Shampoo

Okay so I know I haven’t been updating my blog, but it’s mostly because I haven’t come across anything that I truly truly love. Since I went cruelty the two products that were the most difficult to switch over to were deodorant and dandruff shampoo. I was using the Redkin dandruff shampoo for awhile, because my scalp gets super itchy and flaky. Like for real, my scalp would look like snow. I used Acure shampoo, and The WonderSeed shampoo for dry itchy scalp. Neither of these products worked for my scalp, as I still felt itchy. Now Maple Holistics sent me their product Tee Tree Shampoo. I was really curious about the product because I struggle with dandruff and an itchy scalp. To my surprise, this product is actually helping my scalp.

Behind the Brand: Maple Holistics

Maple Holistics is located in New Jersey, USA and established in 2001. Their products are cruelty free, sulfate free, paraben free, GMO-free, gluten-free, all natural, and safe for color treated hair. From their website I believe they specialize in shampoo and conditioner, but they also have oils and creams.

Maple Holistics Tea Tree Oil Shampoo

Where do I start? Well, I’ve been using this product for over a week, and I can tell you the tee tree oil scent is super subtle compared to other tee tree shampoos. The Maple Holistics Tea Tree Oil Shampoo promotes hair growth, and helps scalp health. I will say I noticed like four flakes in my hair, but overall I don’t feel itchy and I noticed significant less dandruff. I was using the Acure shampoo before, and I definitely had an itchy and red scalp. The one thing I do really like about this shampoo is that it has that clean/fresh scent. My hair also feels silky and soft.

Maple Holistics Tee Tree Shampoo

According to the website these are the benefits:

Promotes healthy hair growth.

Can slow hair loss, shedding, and thinning hair.

Helps prevent flaking and dandruff.

Capable of soothing an irritated scalp.

Potential to naturally eradicates lice.

Leaves hair and scalp rejuvenated and fresh.

Maple Holistics: Sample program

If you aren’t sure this product is for you, but you are looking for a cleaner shampoo or conditioner product, then I would suggest you try out their sample program. You can try out one free product sample in order to find out if you like it. I always recommend trying samples of green beauty products because it is important to find out if you like it. Also I would definitely check out their Amazon website because they have over 1000 reviews, and they have an average 4.3 stars out of 5.

Organic Lipstick-100% Pure Matte Lipstick Review

Who doesn’t love a good organic lipstick? I am excited to share that I found an excellent green beauty lipstick. Now I don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals in it. 100% Pure had a promotion sale more than a month ago. So basically if you had the link and shared it on your Facebook page, then it allowed you to get a free matte lipstick and only pay the shipping ($5.99). I was super excited, since the organic lipsticks are usually $29. 100% Pure lipsticks are as pricey as sushi.

Review on 100% Pure Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick

The packaging describes it as “An ultra-matte, lightweight lipstick that glides on seamlessly for a soft finish while providing vibrant color from all-natural fruit pigments.

The description is 100 % accurate.

I was so surprised, and shocked that the lipstick was matte, but it didn’t feel like it stuck to my lips.

It glides really well on the lips, and of course I made sure to have clean dry lips before applying. I did notice that after about an hour the lipstick wiped away, so I would not describe this as long lasting. The smell is amazing though. I loved the fruit smell, because all the ingredients are natural. Some of the ingredients are cherry, cabernet grape, apricot, organic cocoa, shea butter, pomegrante, lavender, rosemary, and peach.

The color sandstone gres is a brown lipstick with hints of orange. It is a nude lipstick for sure. It is wearable for light or light to medium skin tones. I don’t think this would be a good color for medium or dark skin tones.

I can’t wait to try out more of 100% Pure’s lipstick collection, since I’ve heard nothing but great things.

Cruelty Free and Organic: Au Naturale and Ilia Lipstick Review

Lipsticks are my most favorite beauty product ever! I mean with a touch of color you can easily transform your face, and that’s without magic. So I’ve been trying new organic lipstick for a short time. I decided to buy these two cruelty free and organic lipsticks because I absolutely loved the color. Prior to using these organic lipsticks, I was using the Colourpop lippes. But I wanted to switch to organic lipsticks, because the ingredients are better and healthier for the skin. Please keep reading if you want to know what I think about these cruelty free and organic lipsticks.

Au Naturale in Marrakesh- $22

I first heard of this lipstick on Logical Harmony’s YouTube Channel. I bought it from Safe and Chic website. Marrakesh is a warm matte pink (pictured left). It is cruelty free, vegan, 100% natural, and it is made in the United States. I love the morals of this company, and I definitely plan on buying more from this brand. The formula for this lipstick is matte, and it lasts for about four hours on me. I noticed that it did make the lines on my lips visible, and because of that I had to add lip balm on top. This color is super pretty, and I did get a lot of compliments when I wore it.

Au Naturale lipstick in Marrakesh, and Ilia funnel of love.

Ilia in Funnel of Love- $26

I bought this cruelty free and organic lipstick online from Safe and Chic too. Ilia is much more moisturizing that the Au Naturale. I liked that my lips felt soft with this, but at the same time I felt that the lipstick moved around a lot and I had to retouch it with my fingers. This color is a soft nude with peachy undertones. Most likely I am going to buy the tinted lip conditioners, because on the website it said that these lipsticks pair well with those. I could go on and on, but I really liked this lipstick and I want to buy more.

What Cruelty Free Hair Products Do I Actually Use?

Hi all! How are you? I hope you are having a great weekend. I just wanted to write a quick review on theĀ  cruelty free hair products I use. To be honest, I don’t really do anything special to my hair. I do suffer from dandruff, and I tend to avoid putting a lot of products in my hair. Slowly but surely I am switching to organic hair care products. I purchased all of these cruelty free products at Target, and they cost less that $10.

Renpure Solutions Lavender Cleansing Conditioner

The basics of this cleansing conditioner is that is part of this whole new hair era, where you replace your shampoo for conditioner. I love the smell of this conditioner, plus it really made my hair soft. The only downside is that my scalp was sort of oily after washing my hair. I tend to only use 5 pumps when I wash my hair, and I leave it on for about 5 minutes.

Acure Clarifying Conditioner Lemongrass

This is the second conditioner that I have tried from Acure. I really love them both. I think the lemongrass smell is very clean, but it isn’t my favorite. It definitely makes my hair feel soft, and that is why I like it so much. I think for the price, product, and the fact that I got it at Target is a huge plus. Call me crazy, but I am the type of person to run to the grocery store when I’ve just finished a deodorant or shampoo. I don’t usually buy these products in bulk, but I should probably. This product is cruelty free, and vegan.

Andalou Naturals Argan & Sweet Orange Moisture Rich Shampoo

Okay first off this smell reminds me of an orange creamsicle, and that is probably why I like it most. I know, I know, I always have to say something about the smell of the product, but I mean when I’m reviewing the product I can always remember the smell. Anyway, I do have some dandruff after wearing this product, but it doesn’t irritate my scalp, and I don’t feel itchy. This is an organic, cruelty free, and vegan product.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

This is a vegan and cruelty free dry shampoo. Also this dry shampoo is super popular, and that’s because it gets the job done. I tend to not use this product often, because I still feel the need to wash my hair after I workout. I usually use this dry shampoo when I don’t feel like washing my hair.

Review on Lily Lolo Mascara and Makeup Wipes

Alright I know I haven’t been posting as much, but I really wanted to post this review today. This is a review on the Lily Lolo mascara. This mascara has a lot of hype, and for good reason. I also wanted to review these makeup wipes that I purchased at Target. Please make sure to check out these products.

Lily Lolo Mascara

This mascara is amazing! I have been wanting to try this out for a long time. I heard a lot of great reviews about it, and now I can understand that it truly is great. As of now, I think this mascara is my number one, and number two would go to the Pacifica’s Dream Big mascara. I bought this mascara on Petit Vour for $20. I think this is a great product, and I only wish it was accessible in stores. My lashes were naked for a week, because I was waiting for it to come in the mail. Four coats of this mascara, and my lashes are voluminous and long. The one down side that I have noticed with this mascara is when I cry I kind of get this burning feeling. For that reason I try to fan myself when I’m laughing because I don’t want my eye to burn from the mascara. Other than that though I would repurchase!

Shea Moisture Peace Rose Oil Complex Sensitive Skin Facial Wipes

So I went to Reno last weekend, and I’ve been just using coconut oil as makeup remover, but I didn’t want to carry a container of coconut oil when traveling. So I went to Target and got these wipes for $5.49. These wipes are biodegradable which was a bonus reason for buying them, because I’m always watching my carbon footprint. I really like these wipes because they don’t irritate my eyes. I have used a lot of wipes and makeup removers and they just hurt my eyes so much, that I’ve just stuck to using coconut oil to remove my makeup. But because I was traveling, I definitely wanted a makeup remover that was light in my duffle bag, and easy to use. I also love the rose scent!

Rosewater

Okay there isn’t much to say other than I love this scent. I use it as an aromatherapy scent, so if I feel like a need a pick me up, I think this scent makes me feel refreshed and energized. I also love putting this in my hair to make it smell good, and I will mist it on my face in the morning or at night. Overall I think everyone will likes this spray.

Let me know what you think! Have you tried any of these products?

5 Things I’ve Learned My First Year Going Cruelty Free

At this time last year I was researching makeup brands, and finding out which were cruelty free. Here are five things that I learned about going cruelty free.

  • The first thing I learned was that it was difficult to find my holy grail cruelty free products. Mascara was one of the most difficult things to find, since I was obsessed with Covergirl’s orange lash blast mascara. I eventually found my holy grail which is Pacifica’s Dream Big mascara. I guess what I want to say is that it is a lot of trial error in switching to cruelty free makeup products.

  • Shop at TJMaxx for cruelty free brands. I bought Crystal deodorant, and Jason shampoo for a reasonable price at TJMaxx. I also found this gem (pictured) at TJMaxx, I only wish it was a larger container, since it made me feel like I traveled to Hawaii.

  • The brand E.L.F became my best friend. I really liked the eyeliner, and HD translucent powder (pictured). I also love E.L.F brushes. They are soft and affordable, I think the most expensive one is $3. Like are you kidding!

  • Buy samples or travel size makeup products. I bought the Vapour sample kit which was about $17 with shipping, but I got a $10 promo code, and I figured out which product I wanted to buy full size. You should definitely switch to cruelty free products slowly, and I think buying samples or travel size makes it easy because you can decide which product you like the most.

  • I became more aware of the ingredients in the products. I started watching Laura’s Natural Life on YouTube, and she made me aware of more green products that I should be using. Towards the end of the year I found out about The Organic Bunny, and I absolutely love her blog. For the new year I will be switching to more green makeup products. I will upload a blog post about why I am switching to green products later.

Please tell me what you think, and let me know what your experience has been since switching to cruelty free makeup products.

Thanks Beauties!

Review on Milani Eye Tech Eyeliner

Finding a cruelty free eyeliner this year was difficult. I used to swear by the Loreal gel eyeliner, and that was truly the only one I used all the time. Since going cruelty free though, I have had to experiment with many different types of eyeliner. A cruelty free gel eyeliner that I like is the Wet N’ Wild’s On Edge Creme Eyeliner, but in this post I will be reviewing a felt tip eyeliner. I paid about $10 for the Milani Eye Tech Extreme Liquid Eye Liner. I tried using it multiple ways before writing a review for it. I’ve had it for about three weeks. If you follow me on Instagram, which you should, I used the Milani eyeliner for the lines on my mouth for my skeleton makeup on Halloween. Below are the pros and cons of the Milani eyeliner.

img_0002

Pros

  • It has a pointy tip which makes it great for making a winged eyeliner.
  • It it super soft and it didn’t irritate my eyes at all.
  • The black color was intense.
  • The price isn’t too shabby considering the Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner is $20.
  • It lasted throughout the day with a classic eyeliner look.
  • It claims that it is waterproof, and I didn’t test it, but it didn’t smudge really throughout the day.
  • It is thin, and lightweight. It has a grip handle, which makes it easy to use.

Cons

  • After applying this eyeliner on top of eye shadow I still didn’t feel like it was pigmented enough.
  • When I used it to for a wing eye look, I noticed the edges wiped away throughout the day.
  • I didn’t try it, but this eyeliner if definitely for the top of the eyelids. I only use pencil eyeliners for the waterline.

This is a great eyeliner for the price.

If you have any recommendations please let me know.

Too Many Nudes

Okay when you first opened this post you probably had a dirty thought, but I’m really talking about lipsticks, I just thought I should clear the air. Anyway these are some of the pinky nude lipsticks I always reach for. I am absolutely am obsessed with them, and I thought I would post them because I always get compliments and questions on what lipstick I’m wearing. The problem is that I reach for so many pinky nudes, and I’m really looking forward to expand my lipstick collection. I am in the market for reds, and dark lippies for fall. Any suggestions?

NYX Intense Butter Gloss- Peanut Brittle (less pink nude)

NYX Intense Butter Gloss- Cookie Butter (very nude)

NYX Intense Butter Gloss- Tres Leches (pinky nude)

Silk Naturals Velvet Matte Lipstick-Vice (pinky nude)

Jordana Easy Liner for Lips- Rose Crush (pink nude) FYI I like to put this under the nude NYX glosses.

Colourpop Matte Lipstick- Bianca (Light pink nude) I don’t really like this formula, but I like using a gloss over it to make my lips feel more comfortable.

Colourpop Sheer Lipstick- Echo Park (my favorite sheer pinky nude)

Colourpop Lippie- Aquarius (dark nude and my favorite formula and color)

Colourpop Lippie- Oh Snap (matte nude) I also own the lipstick pencils for the colourpop lippies, I just didn’t picture them.

Glisten like a shiny apple, and shake to “Shine bright like a diamond”

First, if your favorite song is “Shine Bright like a Diamond” raise your hand! Yes love, you will shine just like Rihanna with this highlighter! I am in absolute love with the Colourpop highlighter in Wisp. I haven’t used too many highlighters in my life, but I mean wisp has me hooked like a baby to it’s teddy bear. I dab it with my finger, and a tap it on my cheekbone. I think it helps I have high cheek bones too! The one thing I don’t like about Colourpop‘s packaging is that they don’t have palettes. I think it would be great if they had a highlighter palette, that way you can just carry a variety of highlighters. Wisp feels light, and it makes my skin glisten like a perfect New York apple. I’ve never been to New York personally, but that’s what I know they are known for!

IMG_0487

The next product is Wet n’ Wild’s Max Volume mascara which is waterproof. Since I went to a music festival (EDC) I knew I was going to be sweaty, so I opted for a waterproof mascara, but I knew I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. This one costed $5.49 at CVS. Surprisingly, it felt like a $20 mascara. I think the wand is perfect. It is long, and thin towards the end, and it’s not bulky. I personally don’t like waterproof mascaras too much though, because they are difficult to take off at night. I think that’s my only con with this mascara. I did notice some flakes, but nothing too serious. If you have thin long lashes, and you are looking for volume, then buy this mascara. It’s also great if you are going to be in the desert or a festival for a long time, because waterproof mascara will hold a long time in dry and hot conditions.

I hope you all have a great 4th of July!

Besos!
